Now his son is urging others to undergo checks for the disease and be wary of the symptoms. A heartbroken son has shared the story of his dad’s prostate cancer diagnosis in the hope of helping others.
Teacher Peter Sheward-Himpson, from Pembrokeshire, wants to “break the stigma” around the disease following the death of his father Pete, in 2017.
“Incredible” Pete was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011 despite experiencing no symptoms.
Instead the disease was caught by a “random” health check that included a PSA test, which measures the level of prostate-specific antigen in your blood.
