Helping with the Development of a New Lateral Flow PSA Test

10 Dec, 2024 | Return|

At our recent Warwick testing event, we assisted TestCard with the ongoing development of a new type of lateral flow PSA test.

From TestCard:

"We are very grateful to all the men who volunteered their time for an additional step of a finger prick so that we at TestCard can validate a rapid diagnostic test for PSA that could be used at home.

Our test is a lateral flow test, very similar to the Covid antigen tests that everyone has become very familiar with over the last few years. The testing images gathered have massively improved our software's machine learning recognition of different testing areas with a wide range of samples.

This test is able to identify if the PSA blood levels are:

  • <4 ng/mL
  • Between 4 and 10 ng/mL
  • Or greater than 10 ng/mL

Our technology reads the test, interprets the result and can deliver it directly to a GP or clinical service."

Please read the attached report from TestCard for further information on how this new test works, their results gathered so far and what they are working towards next.

We are delighted to be able to tell you that TestCard will be attending the event on 16th January at The Nelson Club to further "hone" the operation and their techniques to hopefully be able to move things further forward. This time there will be a team of seven of them to make it work more quickly and smoothly. Please therefore tell your friends if they are thinking of having a PSA test, January would be the perfect time!

Again, a big thank you from us. The rapid progress they are making would not have been possible without you.

Please see attached, our open letter of thanks to everyone who assisted us on the evening.
