Graham's Prostate Cancer Update: Latest PSA Test
Graham Fulford, founder of GFCT and GFCT Focal Therapy, was diagnosed with prostate cancer early this year. An update from Graham:
I have now received the results of my most recent PSA test, which has come back at 3.44, slightly lower than my previous result. Barring any unexpected findings from the outstanding Prostatype test, I will proceed with the next PSA test in September, followed by an MRI scan in October. Encouraging news, as you might agree!
Interestingly, I arranged this latest PSA test privately and, in doing so, took the opportunity to provide my new GP in Warwick with a copy of my consultant’s letter from January—something my previous GP in Cornwall had evidently not forwarded. As a result, my new GP proactively contacted me to offer a follow-up PSA test and, if necessary, an MRI scan. So much for the idea of healthcare being a "postcode lottery"! Furthermore, he also reviewed my full medical notes and asked me to send him the average of several recent blood pressure readings, in order to ensure his records are fully up to date.
