PSA Testing in Wales by Prostate Cymru
Early detection saves lives – and it starts with a simple blood test.
Prostate Cymru is leading an ambitious campaign across Wales to provide free or low-cost PSA tests to thousands of men, helping to catch prostate cancer early – when it's most treatable.
Men often avoid testing due to outdated fears or lack of awareness. But the PSA test is quick, painless and finger-free. It's already flagged early signs of cancer in dozens of men – including Cambrian News editor Mick O’Reilly and North Wales Police’s Neil Ackers, both diagnosed thanks to routine PSA tests. Their stories are powerful reminders that even without symptoms, you can still be at risk.
“Most men won’t have symptoms early on – that’s why testing is vital,” says Andy Thomas, co-founder of Prostate Cymru.
The goal: test over 3,000 men in 2025, including upcoming events at Narberth RFC (1 June) and Aberystwyth RFC (8 June), supported by local sponsors and health professionals.
Men aged 50+, or 45+ if you’re Black or have a family history, are urged to get tested.
PSA tests save lives. Don’t wait for symptoms. Be proactive.
