Dermot Murnaghan, 67, with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer

Veteran broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan, best known for presenting the BBC’s News at Ten, Sky News, and the quiz show Eggheads, has revealed he is living with stage 4 prostate cancer. In a deeply personal message shared on social media, the 67-year-old urged men to get tested, stressing that early detection is vital and that prostate cancer can progress without any noticeable symptoms.

“I’m responding positively to their excellent treatment, and feeling well. Needless to say, my message to all men over 50, in high risk groups, or displaying symptoms, is get yourself tested and campaign for routine prostate screening by the NHS.”

His honesty and courage are a powerful reminder of how important it is for men, particularly those over 50, those with a family history of prostate cancer, or Black men (who are at higher risk), to be proactive about their health. While treatments are improving all the time, catching the disease early gives the best chance of successful outcomes. Prostate cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, meaning many cases are only caught once the disease has advanced.

We offer accessible PSA testing for all men to check their risk level. A quick blood test could lead to early diagnosis and better treatment options. Don’t wait. Take charge of your health today.
