'Normal' PSA Score But 2 Tumours Found - A Testimonial

25 Jul, 2025 | Return|

Please read this powerful testimonial received this week highlighting the importance of PSA testing:

"Good morning,

Just thought I would give you some feedback further to my attendance at your Ascot prostate event.

Unfortunately I was one of those who did get a red letter after testing, and further scans and biopsies confirmed I have two tumours on my prostate. Both are treatable, and I now await admission to Imperial College, Charing Cross Hospital for treatment. My own doctor did refer me to Imperial College at my request after showing him the letter and results.

Out of interest, I had a PSA test last year (2024) through my own Wokingham Surgery with a result of 3.4 which came back as within the normal zone for a person of my age. The 4.2 result from the Windsor Lions test my doctor advised is still regarded as within the normal range by Royal Berks Hospital, so they would not have accepted me for further investigation. A digital examination by my doctor in surgery at the time showed a slightly enlarged prostate, but no feel of any other problems, but he nevertheless accepted my request for further tests in London. A further and more recent blood test taken by my surgery at the time of my own doctors examination showed a recent PSA reading of 3.6.

Can only thank Windsor Lions for teaming up with a hospital who work to a different scale to that of Royal Berks Hospital, otherwise I would still be unaware that I have a growing and serious medical problem. Thank you also for accepting me as a slightly over age (76 year old) individual onto your testing event. Just shows a result of 3.6 regarded as “normal” locally, can in fact be very, very wrong.

Many, many thanks once again.

Regards"
